What to Expect

What To Expect

Everyone is welcome at the Warren First Church of the Nazarene. Whether you are simply seeking what it means to know about God, or are looking for a new church home, you are welcome here.

Attire

People often ask, What should I wear to church?  Don't worry, when you arrive you will find people dressed in all kinds of attire. There are those who like to dress up a bit to come to church, but there are also those who are comfortable in their every-day gear.  Come and be comfortable.  We are about worshipping God, not worrying about how we look!

Worship Service

Our worship services are every Sunday at 10:40 AM.
Note:  You may be interested to know that our Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM with classes for Adults, Youth, and Children!

If you have children you will be able to bring them with you to the worship service, or you may wish to take advantage of our excellent nursery facilities.  Our volunteer ladies love to take care of your small ones, and all of our qualified staff are NazSafe certified.

Music

Please, come into the sanctuary and make yourself at home. Our services usually begin with a time of music in which people may stand or choose to sit. Our modern media projection system allows us to project the words onto our two front screens to provide us with the freedom to enter more fully into the music portion of the service.  We enjoy singing contempory Christian music as well as the hymns of the church.  It's an exciting time!  If you know the songs, please lift your voice and sing along, if notdon't worry about it and just relax and enjoy the worship experience.

Greeting

Sometimes we have a time of "greeting" or "passing of the peace". Don't let it scare you—our people are just friendly and will want to come and shake your hand.  Soon you will be entering in and spreading your greeting to others as well.

Offering

During most services we will have a time of offering. This is when those who are regular attenders give their tithes and offerings as a part of their worship to God, which supports the ministries of the church. Visitors are welcome to participate, but are certainly not expected to do so.

Sermon

The pastor will usually preach a sermon. This is a teaching lesson, taking scripture verses from the Bible and applying them to our own lives. If you have a Bible, you are welcome to bring it with you. A lot of people use e-versions of Bibles in their phones and other electronic devices these days. If you don’t have any of these, don’t worryScripture readings are projected on the overhead screens, and the Pastor will read his Scripture text as well.

Prayer

There may be a time during the service when the pastor invites people to come down the front to an altar for a special time of prayer.  This is not required but should you desire to go forward and pray quietly or have someone to pray with you, you are always welcome.

Communion

Some Sundays we will partake in Communion. You don't have to be a member of the church to take part, but the pastor will generally ask whether you are a follower of Jesus Christ. This is a good time to re-evaluate where you are in your spiritual walk. Maybe you need to make a recommitment to the Lord, and taking part in Communion may become this affirmation. Simply listen to the instructions given by the pastor and, as a confessed follower of Christ, you are welcome to participate.
